The game was mainly one side and not our side. We ended up losing 23-13, but all in all it was exciting!! Very organized and of course the most important thing...God Centered!!

The Dreaded Wisdom Teeth

Well it has been a long time coming but Bobby finally had his Wisdom Teeth removed on Friday. He is doing alright but suffering through ALOT of pain and swollen jaw and neck. The dr did give him a prescription for Percoset and that has been helping him some with the pain.

Here is a really cool thing, he has had less allergies since the surgery. YEA!!! We think the one tooth that had turned sideways was affecting the sinuses and possibly the ear tub....wierd but you know your sinuses are huge and so that could be.

Hopefully my Honey Bunny (I know...mushy) will be better soon!!

A little Too Scary

Laura's Pic0275.jpg
Originally uploaded by fortunate1.

Ok, Ok.... I know Nicholas' costume was a bit too much. I knew it the day we bought it. I'm not sure of the exact name of the creature it is suppose to be but it did come with a medalion that looked alot like a pentagram (evil devil star) so we threw that away.

The mask only covered half of his face so I had to cover the bottom portion with the black Halloween make-up. It was in the mid to low 70's last night and Nicholas went with Bobby to Trick-or-Treat.

They left at 6:30 and came back at 8:30, Nicholas almost passed out from either heat exhaustion or dehydration...not sure which. Bobby said Nicholas started acting disorientated and sluggish. Bobby took of the mask and Nicholas was very white (on the part with no makeup) and his eyes were not focusing. So Nicholas had to stop, sit down and this nice neighbor that lives a few streets down gave him some water. So needless to say he will NOT be getting this type of costume EVER again.

Sandals are NOT my friend

Saturday we went Kayaking at this Beautiful EMPTY park nearby. We had just unloaded our Kayaks and ......Me (being the impatient person I can be) thought it would be smart to step over, this rope/wire that is fastened from post to post about knee high, instead of going to the actual walk thru section and walking thru....

........Well, as I was stepping over, my sandal got caught on the rope/wire and down I went, right onto the concrete walkway. I got some scapes... a bump or two.... and of course a big black & blue bruise.

As I was falling I thought DO NOT HIT YOUR HEAD ON THE CONCRETE, THAT WILL REALLY BE A BAD THING. I didn't, don't know how but, I didn't???

Things we Learned we Need in light of an injured person:
1. First Aid Kit, in the car AND kayak
2. A plan, if one of us is hurt and out of commission

Sometimes.....

I look around and see everyone but feel like I am on the other side of a window looking in.
I don't feel engaged or plugged into my life.

What's Up with this?
Where did it come from?
How do I correct it?

Our Sucky Zoo Experience

Laura's Pic0264.jpg
Originally uploaded by fortunate1.

Today was $3.00 day at the Lowry Park Zoo (voted #1 zoo in America by Childs Magazine). We had not visted there yet so today was the day to go.

We arrive around 11am, it opens at 9:30am, walk up to the ticket booth and I notice (but don't discuss) how run down the entrance looks. We walk in and it is yucky from the get go. The pic you see was the only one I could get close enough to take.

No wide open spaces just small walkways, can't really see the animals because of the hedges and the "natural" habitats. Now, I'm no prude, but as we get further into the park we notice that there is ALOT of beer drinking going on....it is Sunday by the way and we are at a ZOO, where children are. Now there is beer at Busch Gardens but you expect that, a beer company owns/runs it.

Alright, I know when going anywhere near animals you are going to smell that wild animal smell but this was WAY OVERBOARD. It was like the habitats had not been cleaned in a while. We walked almost the entire park in about 2 hours...that is how small it is.

On our way to get something cool to drink a man from behind was SCREAMING at his wife, who was walking up ahead of us about walking away from him. Bobby and I decided it was time to go.

As we were heading to the exit we noticed more and more people drinking and carring on about how "lit" they will be by half time for the football game today.

The animals at Busch Gardens are easier to see and kept a heck of alot better than these, I kinda felt bad for the zoo animals. If we had paid the $40.00 it costs normally we would have been even more upset.

I don't know what the people at Child's Magazine were talking about when they rated this zoo #1 in America......they must have never visted the Atlanta Zoo or the San Diego Zoo or even the t-tiny zoo in Charleston, SC.

Oh and by the way, nope we did not feel the earthquake, thank goodness they freaked me out enough when we lived in San Diego!

Gotta love digital music!!

Tonight Hubby downloaded (thank you!!) and burt the current Miranda Lambert cd. I've only been wanting this one for months!!!! I know she is young, but she wrote 5 of the songs herself between the age of 17 and 20 and the other songs in colaboration. She just has that certain something in her writing and music that grabs you and it's pretty darn good for a "youngin". Check out the link and see for yourself!

Kerosene is a kick@#$ song...btw

Crazy Job Stuff

I did not blog about my former boss (to be referred to as "The Devil") b/c he sucked the life out of me each day and when I got home I just could not unload the crap of my days onto you. If I did such, you would find the tallest cliff in the world and take a running jump right off the end...without hesitation!!!!!!

With that said, he let me go, b/c the real estate market came to a complete stop here and he could not continue to pay me. But here is the most heart stabbing thing, he told me when he hired me that he had already set aside my salary for the entire year in a seperate bank account, so I would not have to worry about my job.
He gave me a 2 week notice, so I put my resume out on http://monster.com and received a call to interview... and ... I got the job.

The company I am working with now is http://sunbelt-software.com a very nice company, with great software and great atmosphere ( I get to dress casual!! )

The start time is 9am, so I am still able to get up with Nicholas, fix breakfast, enjoy one one one time and then I take him to school. I really enjoy this time with him and I know when he is all grown up and I'm old, I will look back on these days with such love and affection.

A Short Cat Tale

Yesterday morning was a busy and running late kinda morning. I was running around getting Nicholas ready for TaeKwonDo Camp, they were going swimming so I had to gather additional things for that. I didn't check the back door( it doesn't close properly sometimes ) that leads out to our fenced backyard to see if it is locked. Well I forgot...the following is mine and Bobby's phone conversation while I was on the way home.....

Me, hey hon how are you?
Bobby, Freaking out
Me, Why?
Bobby, I walked in and the back door was wide open and Sofie (our Cat) was still inside.
Me, OH NO, I forgot to lock the back door and Sofie must have nosed her way to open it.
Bobby, Yep.

So we think either Sofie went outside for a while, got too hot and came back in or she just sat there in awe of the outdoors.

If only cats could talk.......

2nd Kayak Trip

Hello from Sunny Florida!
Today we went to Weedon Island http://www.weedonislandcenter.org and this time was much nicer and calmer, so we were able to take our time and enjoy and TAKE PICTURES!! The water was shallow and we were able to get out of our Kayaks and walk around, there were lots of Oyster Banks and Bobby went exploring w/Nicholas on the Banks and they found an empty Horseshoe Crab Shell, we brought it home!

We saw ALOT of what looked like Trout jumping out of the water and baby Horseshoe Crabs and DOLPHINS and Live Conch and small Finger Mullet and Minnows.... a fun time was actually had by ALL!!! Except for mine and Bobby's sunburn knees ;)
Enjoy the photos.......

Kayaking

Friday we bought 3 kayaks you can check them out here http://oceankayak.com Bobby's is the Prowler 13 (sky blue), Nicholas' is the Caper (blue) and mine is the Drifter (sunrise/sunset).

We put Nicholas in the pool with his yesterday so he could get the feel of it and he did very good, a little hesitant but good. Then Nicholas and I tried out our life vests (Nick wasn't sure if it would keep him floating or not) so I told him we would both do something we have NEVER done, JUMP IN THE DEEP END OF OUR POOL (approx. 8 ft deep) and we did it, and we floated back up to the top...alright yes .... it was a little scary but we did it!!!! So Bobby wanted to take us to the Dunedin Causeway that leads over to Honeymoon Island to take a spin on our Kayaks, in my mind I'm thinking TOO MUCH TOO SOON!! So I put on my brave face while looking at my 8 year olds afraid face and told him it will be fun and he will do just fine.

So we load up the kayaks, they are rather bulky and heavy, onto the top of our Aztek and took off on our adventure. We got there and unloaded and I said I would go in first, then Nick then Bobby. I got in and you know there were WAVES, not big ones but just big enough to rock your kayak!! Next comes Nicholas into his and the look on his face was shear fear. So I grabbed a hold of his kayak and we just sat there while Bobby got in his. And we sat while Bobby boated around and then I noticed we were drifting and FAST all of the sudden we were out near the buoys, FAR from the shore and I'm still holding onto Nicks kayak, I will admit ALOT of panic set in and I yelled and cussed at Bobby (sorry Honey it was the PANIC talking) to get over to us ASAP!!! I turned to Nicholas and said I will aim you in the direction of the beach and you will HAVE TO START PADDLEING. I let go of his kayak (a really hard thing to do b/c of the look on his face) and we started towards the beach and we made it! I jumped off of mine and then Nick came in he jumped off of his, then Bobby came in. I looked at Bobby and said "OK we did it, now lets load up and go home." He looked at me and said that was only 5 minutes, we are going back out there. So we did. and we did better and we went farther and we enjoyed it, Nicholas got a little scared but recovered. After getting back to the beach again we rested and then loaded up and went home. WHEW..... WE ARE TIRED!!!

This is an actual circle around the sun, kinda like the circle you see around the moon when it's gonna rain. I thought it was very strange, I had never seen this before. The brown triangle you see in the top left corner is part of our umbrella on the patio, I had to block the sun in order to capture the circle.
