Today was $3.00 day at the Lowry Park Zoo (voted #1 zoo in America by Childs Magazine). We had not visted there yet so today was the day to go.
We arrive around 11am, it opens at 9:30am, walk up to the ticket booth and I notice (but don't discuss) how run down the entrance looks. We walk in and it is yucky from the get go. The pic you see was the only one I could get close enough to take.
No wide open spaces just small walkways, can't really see the animals because of the hedges and the "natural" habitats. Now, I'm no prude, but as we get further into the park we notice that there is ALOT of beer drinking going on....it is Sunday by the way and we are at a ZOO, where children are. Now there is beer at Busch Gardens but you expect that, a beer company owns/runs it.
Alright, I know when going anywhere near animals you are going to smell that wild animal smell but this was WAY OVERBOARD. It was like the habitats had not been cleaned in a while. We walked almost the entire park in about 2 hours...that is how small it is.
On our way to get something cool to drink a man from behind was SCREAMING at his wife, who was walking up ahead of us about walking away from him. Bobby and I decided it was time to go.
As we were heading to the exit we noticed more and more people drinking and carring on about how "lit" they will be by half time for the football game today.
The animals at Busch Gardens are easier to see and kept a heck of alot better than these, I kinda felt bad for the zoo animals. If we had paid the $40.00 it costs normally we would have been even more upset.
I don't know what the people at Child's Magazine were talking about when they rated this zoo #1 in America......they must have never visted the Atlanta Zoo or the San Diego Zoo or even the t-tiny zoo in Charleston, SC.
Oh and by the way, nope we did not feel the earthquake, thank goodness they freaked me out enough when we lived in San Diego!
I'm not a fan of being on the lense side of the camera but my sis requested a pic. So here you go....this was taken while we were on the phone Friday night. Love you!
